101 more dengue fever cases reported in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province

Islamabad [Pakistan], September 18: The health ministry of Pakistan's eastern Punjab province said on Sunday that 101 new cases of dengue fever had been reported during the last 24 hours in the province.
The ministry said in a statement that the new cases have increased the overall tally to 2,658 in the province this year.
According to the statement, over 100 patients with dengue fever are under treatment in hospitals in different areas of the province.
District Coordinator Epidemics Prevention and Control (DCEPC) of the Rawalpindi district of the province, SajjadMehmood, said in a statement on Sunday that the district reported 45 cases during the last 24 hours, increasing the tally to 534.
The official said that 90 out of 534 patients are still admitted to different hospitals in Rawalpindi, a district adjacent to the capital Islamabad, while others have been discharged after the treatment.
The district official added that the local government had already launched a prevention campaign, including creating awareness among the masses, spraying and registering cases against those who violate advisories to prevent the dengue spread.
The health officer said that the administration had issued 870 fine tickets, sealed 531 buildings and registered 2,876 cases in the district for the violations of the anti-dengue campaign.
